A Lifetime of Service

Neil Rafferty is a devoted public servant, a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and the State Representative for Alabama's House District 54, serving the people of Birmingham since his election in 2018.

Born and raised with a deep sense of civic duty, Neil enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he learned the core values of honor, courage, and commitment. These principles continue to guide his work today in the Alabama Legislature. After his military service, Neil returned home to Birmingham, driven by a desire to continue serving his community in a different capacity.

We all have a stake. We all have a voice. And it takes all of us helping neighbors when they need it most.
— Rep. Neil Rafferty

Championing District 54

In the State House, Neil has built a reputation as a fierce advocate for working families, marginalized communities, and common-sense solutions. He serves on the Health and Health Professions Committee, where he fights tirelessly for Medicaid expansion — recognizing that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental human right, not a privilege.

Neil is also a courageous voice for equality in Montgomery, standing against discriminatory legislation and pushing for a state where every Alabamian is treated with dignity and respect.

A Vision for Alabama

Neil believes in an Alabama that works for everyone. His legislative priorities focus on fully funding public education, spurring economic development that brings good-paying jobs to Birmingham, and reforming a broken justice system.

When he's not in Montgomery, Neil is on the ground in District 54, meeting with constituents, working with local neighborhood associations, and ensuring that the voices of Birmingham are heard loud and clear at the Capitol.
