PRIORITY ISSUE
BUILD ECONOMIC GROWTH
Building an economy that works for every neighborhood in Birmingham, not just those at the top. We need living wages, strong unions, and 21st-century infrastructure.
Living Wages
Nobody working 40 hours a week should live in poverty. We must raise the state minimum wage.
working families
Every worker deserves fair pay, safe conditions, and the right to bargain for both.
Job Training
Investing in trade schools and
apprenticeships to prepare our workforce for the jobs of tomorrow.
The Economic Plan for District 54
Birmingham has a proud history as an industrial powerhouse, built by the sweat and determination of working-class people. But as our economy changes, too many families are being left behind. Neil believes that economic development isn't just about corporate tax breaks—it's about investing in the people who actually do the work.
Supporting Small Business
Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy. Neil has consistently voted to cut red tape for local entrepreneurs and supported micro-grant programs designed specifically for minority- and women-owned businesses in Birmingham.
Rebuilding Infrastructure
We cannot attract 21st-century jobs with 20th-century infrastructure. Neil is fighting for state funds to repair our crumbling roads and bridges, fix chronic flooding issues in residential neighborhoods, and ensure every home has access to high-speed, affordable broadband internet.
